Both misdemeanor and felony charges have serious consequences. Conviction can result in jail time, probation, hefty fines–and can alter your entire life. If you’re in a circumstance that threatens your future, you need strong and reliable representation, like Pennington Law in Santa Fe, NM.

Sometimes charges can be reduced or even dismissed through defense representation. We’re committed to protecting your rights and your future.

Have you been charged with a criminal offense?

Domestic Violence Charges
can leave a lasting effect and have a negative impact on your life, including child custody, visitation rights to see your children, your current and future job situation, and more.

Drug Crimes
and Drug Charge laws primarily target the use and distribution of controlled substances. Conviction of drug charges and crimes can be severe. The specifics of your case,  whether you have prior charges, and specifics surrounding your arrest or the seizure of drugs will greatly determine the outcome of your case. It’s important to establish representation as soon as possible to build a strong defense.

We’ll build a compelling case. A charge or arrest doesn’t always result in a conviction. Contact Pennington Law to discuss your case.

Criminal Citations

Receiving a citation for a misdemeanor is considered an arrest. Citations are sometimes given to a defendant instead of going through the process of taking you to jail and processing charges which could add to already overpopulated jails. You are required to show up for arraignment and failure to do so can result in the court issuing of a bench warrant for your arrest. Citations commonly cited include: underage consumption, disorderly conduct, public intoxication, drug possession, fake or false ID, and traffic offenses.

Misdemeanor and Felony Offenses

We provide aggressive representation for individuals in the city of Santa Fe (and surrounding area) by building a well-founded defense through evidence, witness testimony and refuting the prosecution’s argument against the defendant. From the onset, Pennington Law works to protect your rights and seek a positive resolution to the case.

Misdemeanor charges usually have a minimal sentencing possible, but whether a misdemeanor or felony is charged, it is necessary to help build the best defense possible, which can help result in acquittal and reduced penalties. These charges are often associated with:

  • DUI/DWI convictions
  • Drug crimes and drug charges
  • Domestic violence

Expungements

Is your criminal record preventing you from renting a home, or landing a job?

A criminal record can follow and affect someone for a lifetime. Even if you were not ever convicted, a record of an arrest and a criminal prosecution remains in public records. We can help have records of a criminal case sealed so that nobody can access those without a court order, and potentially have those files removed from public record, called expungement. Expungement can also result in having a record sealed from the public. While the government and law agencies may be able to access a criminal charge record, private individuals cannot.

If you’ve already been convicted of a crime, misdemeanor, or a felony, you may be eligible for an expungement. Contact our legal team today.
